  1. Hallo,
I visited Brunei last April. Because I’ am friend of narrow gauge railways I ask there fore informations of the 13 km that sould be have Brunei, said the internet. But in Brunei nobody can tell me something about it, only, they have many years ago one line. Now I found your photos from your trip in 2013. Can you tell me, where is this forestal line? Many greetings and thanks,
    Jörg.

    • Hi Jörg, the photos you refer to are not of a commercial railway line, but of a logging railway, constructed to remove timber from peat swamp forest. It is only accessible by river and is a private concession.

  2. Your blog is very informative. I’m not a birder, but I really do love birds and learn what I can about them (especially backyard birds). I just can’t get hold of local bird info and nobody around me loves birds. Some don’t even know a sparrow when they see one! To them, it’s ‘small bird’ or ‘big bird’. Hehehe…

So, thanks for all your bird blog posts! I’ll be reading as much as I can~

Hmm… How is it that you manage to get a close shot of the birds? Aren’t they shy/fearful? Or did you wait really long for that opportune moment…? 😄

    • Hi Zero, which part of the world do you live? I’m sure there must be a local birdwatching club you can connect with. As for getting close shots of birds, it’s a combination of having a reasonably long lens, patience and a bit of good fortune!

  3. Hi – appreciated the two ways to live link – thanks for putting this up! I don’t know if you’ve seen “Back to God’s Village” (on youtube) but you might enjoy that too. Birds are amazing … and so are people.

  4. Hello! We are a group of birders and ornithologists from Valencia (east of Spain). We liked your blog article about little stints, congratulations. Some years ago we had a stint that we were pretty sure It was a juvenile red necked stint, We would like to know your opinion about that bird , i have tried to send some photos to the mail address written above but i cannot because gmail says it is unknown. Thank you.

  5. Hello David – I thought that you might be interested to know that I spotted Eurasian curlew NO RW yesterday evening in parkland in front of my house in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. It was a bird ringed here in early 2016 and photographed by you in Sept 2017 and which you kindly reported to BTO licensed ringer Robin Ward and I thought that you would be pleased to hear it is still going strong. Best, Tom

  6. Hello, thank you for visiting my blog a long time ago. Unfortunately I can’t elaborate much on the birdlife on Pulau Perak except that there were lots of them flying about. I think visiting the Island is perhaps easy for locals but possibly harder for foreigners given the naval base on it.
